
What makes a blizzard different from a regular snowstorm? It’s not about how much snow falls. A storm is considered a blizzard when: • Winds reach 35+ mph • Visibility drops to ¼ mile or less • These conditions last 3 hours or more
Even moderate snowfall can become dangerous when blowing snow creates whiteouts.
If you’re in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, or nearby Connecticut: Charge devices, secure outdoor items, move cars for plows, and plan to stay off the roads during the worst of it. Check on neighbors and keep pets safe indoors.
