Blizzard Is Expected To Bring 12-18 Inches of Snow In The Hudson Valley NY

A major winter storm is set to hit the Northeast and the Hudson Valley on Sunday, February 22, 2026, into Monday, February 23, 2026, with blizzard conditions possible in parts of the region. Expect heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous visibility at times — especially Sunday night into Monday morning.

What makes a blizzard different from a regular snowstorm? It’s not about how much snow falls. A storm is considered a blizzard when: • Winds reach 35+ mph • Visibility drops to ¼ mile or less • These conditions last 3 hours or more

Even moderate snowfall can become dangerous when blowing snow creates whiteouts.

If you’re in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, or nearby Connecticut: Charge devices, secure outdoor items, move cars for plows, and plan to stay off the roads during the worst of it. Check on neighbors and keep pets safe indoors.

Here is a helpful checklist as you prepare.
